Kent County man dies from swine flu
         Delaware's Division of Public Health
says a 47-year-old man has died from swine flu.
The Kent County man, who died Sunday, was hospitalized Feb.   8
and tested positive for swine flu on Feb.   19.
Like the other six swine flu victims in the state, the man had
underlying health problems.   Public Health Division Director Dr.
Karyl Rattay says people with chronic underlying health conditions
are at a higher risk of complications from the disease.

Md. bill would set minimum age for tanning bed use
People under 18 would no longer be allowed
to use tanning beds in Maryland under legislation being considered
by the state General Assembly.
Representatives from the American Academy of Dermatology
Association, the Maryland Coalition for the Prevention of Skin
Cancer and the American Cancer Society are scheduled to testify for
the legislation Wednesday.
The U. S Food and Drug Administration is considering tougher
tanning bed regulation and the the World Health Organization's
cancer division last summer listed tanning beds as definitive
cancer-causers.
The measure is sponsored by Montgomery County Delegate Bill
Bronrott.

Markell wants to extend preservation tax credit
Gov.   Jack Markell wants to extend
Delaware's historic preservation tax credit.
Markell announced the effort to continue the program Tuesday in
front of Wilmington's historic Queen Theater, which is undergoing a
$25 million renovation.   The effort benefits from $4. 5 million in
state tax credits through the preservation program.
The tax credit goes to property owners for money spent during
the rehabilitation of historic buildings.   The program created in
2001 expires in June, and Markell says he can't let that happen.   He
says the program restores jobs while preserving history.
Markell says the tax credit helps attract a younger skilled
workforce and in turn, more companies will want to do business in
Delaware.
The General Assembly could consider the extension when its
session resumes later this month.
